Constance West Kimono, Utamaro Geisha, Black/White, OS

Sold Out

Japanese artist Utamaro is among the most highly regarded designers of ukiyo-e  woodblock prints and paintings and best known for his bijin ōkubi-e, "large-headed pictures of beautiful women" of the 1790s.  The image portrayed here is one of Utamaro's geishas called "Woman with Glass" from the series "Ten Physiognomic Aspects of Women." It is beautifully styled with an elegant boatneck, drop shoulders, three-quarter-length sleeves, and side vents lending an easy, relaxed drape.  The central imagine is 100% rayon chirimen crepe which is a woven crepe made of a high twist rayon yarn that offers luster and a soft crinkle surface texture while the surrounding fabric is 100% 4-ply silk, a high quality heavy silk that creates a soft, rich drape.  Dry clean only.
